It is recommended that fire extinguishers should be located in conspicuous positions, available at all times for immediate use ideally in a stand or cabinet where they will be readily accessible to people following an escape route.

In addition having a proper dedicated fire extinguisher stand or cabinet helps to prevent extinguishers from being exposed to:

    • Dents
    • Leaks
    • Rust
    • Chemical deposits
    • abuse/wear

This prevents the need to keep replacing extinguishers, which given correct storage would not have been damaged saving you money. Plus having a proper extinguisher cabinet or stand discourages staff from moving extinguishers away from their proper location, which could create a serious problem in an emergency.
